IOWA STATE PATROL
Q&A
Trooper
Scott Miller is the Education Officer for Iowa State Patrol Post 3 which covers
most of southwest Iowa. Office Miller of Glenwood has been with the
ISP for fifteen years and has been Education Officer the past five years. Officer Miller distributed copies of a Driver
Improvement Test for club members to scan.
He noted he has used this with drivers of all ages to get them to think
about proper actions under different driving conditions. Officer Miller noted some of the rules of the
road do change over time and many drivers are confused about some driving
situations. For example the new law
about moving over for emergency vehicles on the shoulder of two lane interstate
roads does not pertain to tow trucks or wreckers. Office Miller noted there is no law against
cell phone use on the road in Iowa,
but cell phone use is just one of many distractions drivers should avoid to
keep attention on the road and traffic.
